Double Wall Tray Lid Boxes use a separate base tray and lifting lid, with the tray walls doubled over for added stiffness. That extra thickness helps the sides resist crushing when packs are stacked, which suits heavier contents or products that need a reassuringly solid feel on opening.
As the boxes are made to your custom size, the tray depth and lid overlap can be tuned to your product. A generous lid depth gives a satisfying close and protects the contents; too shallow and the lid can lift in transit, so the overlap is worth confirming on a sample. Where packs are stored on top of one another, the doubled walls carry that load, so it is useful to note your stacking height when you specify the tray.
Getting the tray-and-lid fit right
The relationship between tray and lid drives how the box performs. Because the walls are doubled, the internal dimension shifts slightly, so the lid must be dimensioned around the finished tray rather than the flat blank. A prototype lets you check the resistance of the close by hand.
Where they work well
- Double-wall tray for stiffer sides and stacking support
- Lift-off lid for full-width access to the contents
- Custom depth to suit shallow or deep products
- Print across the lid, tray or both components
