Sushi Packaging Built Around Piece Count and Presentation
Custom sushi boxes can be designed around the number and arrangement of rolls, nigiri or mixed pieces inside. That gives restaurants and food brands more control over presentation than a generic stock tray while creating visible space for logos, menu cues and brand colours.
The final structure depends on whether sushi sits directly in the box, on an approved tray, behind a window, or in separate compartments. Delivery and chilled retail packs may also need a different closure or level of rigidity from counter collection packaging.
Who This Packaging Is For
A custom sushi pack is particularly useful when the product arrangement is part of the visual appeal or when several set sizes need a consistent brand family.
- Sushi restaurants and takeaway operators
- Japanese food counters and concessions
- Supermarket and chilled retail brands
- Delivery-first food businesses
- Caterers selling platters and mixed selections
Box Styles and Formats
The box should follow the piece layout, tray depth, window requirement and delivery method rather than using one generic footprint for every set.
- Shallow sushi cartons around an approved inner tray
- Window boxes for visible chilled presentation
- Sleeve-and-tray formats
- Divider or compartment-based boxes for mixed sets
- Larger presentation boxes for platters and sharing selections
Custom Size and Product Fit
Tell us the number of pieces per set, approximate piece dimensions, tray size if one is already used, and whether soy sauce, ginger, chopsticks or other accessories must sit inside the same pack. That information prevents a box that is technically large enough but poorly organised.
Printing Colours and Brand Finish
Choose plain packaging, 1 colour, 2 colour, 3 colour, full colour CMYK, Pantone/PMS colour matching, or a CMYK + Pantone combination where the specification calls for it. Your artwork, board and quantity determine which print process is most economical. We can also discuss matt or gloss lamination, soft-touch, foil, embossing, debossing and spot UV where suitable.
Minimal one-colour branding can suit premium Japanese-inspired presentation, while CMYK allows photography, illustrated patterns and menu differentiation. Pantone matching is useful when a specific restaurant brand colour must remain consistent across boxes, bags and labels.
Materials and Practical Requirements
Chilled foods and direct food contact need materials selected for the intended use. If sushi sits on a separate approved tray, the carton may act mainly as the branded outer pack; direct-contact uses require separate confirmation.
Important: Tell us whether the food directly contacts the paperboard, the chilled holding conditions and any window or liner requirement so the correct food-contact specification can be assessed.
What to Send Us for an Accurate Quote
You do not need a finished dieline to ask for a price. The quickest starting brief is:
- Your approximate internal length × width × height, with mm as the default unit (cm and inches are also fine).
- Required quantity and, if useful, any expected repeat-order quantity.
- The product or primary pack that will sit inside the box.
- Your preferred printing option: plain, 1 colour, 2 colour, CMYK, Pantone or not sure.
- Any window, insert, divider, handle or premium finish you are considering.
- Artwork or a logo file if available; you can also send it later.
- Your preferred delivery date or launch date if the order is time-sensitive.
A top-down photo of your current sushi set with the tray dimensions is ideal. If this is a new product, a simple arrangement sketch with piece count is enough to begin.
Common Buying Questions
Can you make sushi boxes for 8, 12, 24 or another piece count?
Yes. We build the dimensions around your piece arrangement or existing tray, so the pack is not limited to one standard count.
Can a sushi box have a clear display window?
A window can often be incorporated where the construction and material specification permit it. We can discuss size and position around the artwork.
Can you add compartments for sauces and accessories?
Card dividers, inserts or an existing tray system can be considered depending on how you want the set organised.
Can the same branding be used across several sushi set sizes?
Yes. We can carry one brand system across several dielines so small, regular and sharing packs look related on counter or in delivery orders.
