Cake packaging boxes have to carry a heavy, soft product without damaging the decoration. The two measurements that matter most are the footprint, so the cake sits without touching the walls, and the height, so a tall or tiered cake clears the lid and any topping stays untouched. There is no salvaging a cake that arrives marked, so the fit and the base strength are the decisions that matter most.
Footprint, height and base
Made to your custom size, the box can be dimensioned to your cake with a little clearance so it lifts in and out cleanly. A sturdy base is worth prioritising, because the box is carried by its underside with the full weight of the cake on it. Where the cake sits directly against the packaging, tell us the food type and handling conditions so an appropriate board specification can be confirmed for that use.
Transit and presentation
- Internal footprint sized to the cake board
- Height that clears the decoration
- A base strong enough to lift a full cake safely
Because a damaged cake cannot be salvaged, the fit is critical. Order a sample and test with a finished cake to confirm the box carries it safely before a run. For tiered or tall cakes, confirm the internal height against the finished decoration rather than the bare sponge.
